✅ Serve Your Community – Join charitable initiatives that make a real impact, living out the values of Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity.
✅ Preserve Irish History – Help maintain Michigan’s Irish heritage, including landmarks like the An Gorta Mor Irish Famine Monument.
Michigan’s Irish Legacy
Michigan holds a unique place in Irish and American history. It is the only U.S. state with four counties named after Irish counties—Antrim, Clare, Roscommon, and Wexford—as well as Emmet County, named after famed Irish patriot Robert Emmet. This strong connection to Irish history is reflected in the work and mission of the AOH throughout the state.

The AOH also proudly maintains the An Gorta Mor (Irish Famine) Monument, located on the grounds of St. Joseph Church & Shrine along US-12 in the historic Irish Hills of Brooklyn, Michigan. This sacred site stands as a tribute to those who suffered and perished during the Great Hunger and serves as a place of reflection and remembrance for the Irish-American community.
Who Can Join?
Membership in the AOH is open to Catholic men of Irish birth or descent who are committed to their faith and heritage. If you meet these qualifications, we welcome you to take part in this legacy of service and brotherhood.
