After several months of thoughtful and careful planning, Division 8 in Lawrence, MA recently kicked off a recruitment drive for new members focusing on a three prong approach.

First, the Organizing Team focused their strategies on one parish in the Greater Lawrence area, Our Lady of Good Counsel. The Rev. Christopher Casey, Pastor of the parish, several weeks prior to the membership drive, inserted a notice in the parish bulletin informing his parishioners that members of the AOH would be at the parish soliciting new members on a particular weekend. The parishioners of the parish reacted positively and it appears that this endeavor was a success as prospective membership applications are being received.

Secondly, the Division Web Master John Michael Pelletier, created a new Web Page for the Division and members of the Organizing Team used this along with other forms of social media such as Facebook, to contact friends who not only are Irish and Catholic, but who they believed would be good AOH brothers.. This recruitment drive is ongoing.

Finally the Organizer Team members .are now focusing on their next event, which will take place on August 6th, National Night Out. The committee intends to concentrate their efforts on that night in town which traditionally has a large attendance at this event, North Andover, MA. The organizing team intends to have a membership booth there, and the Mass AOH State Board’s Organizer Tent has been secured. AOH members from North Andover will man the booth.

The Division Organizing Team feels the best way to recruit new members is by personal contact and has based their strategy on this premise. Stay tuned for more exciting news on Division 8’s recruitment initiative!
