Meeting at their National Convention, the Ancient Order of Hibernians passed a resolution reiterating their commitment to the families of the Legacy Victims of the troubles
WHEREAS hundreds of families of victims killed directly by British forces or in collusion with loyalist criminals during the conflict known as the Troubles continue to be denied truth and justice about their murdered loved ones, thereby compounding their grief; and,
WHEREAS these same families of what is known as Legacy Victims encounter resistance from British judges, languish in courts denied funding by the British government, and endure constant stonewalling from inquest judges and the Ombudsman to cover-up the truth about British forces during the conflict; and,
WHEREAS human rights groups like Relatives for Justice and the Pat Finucane Centre have called upon the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Irish America for increased American scrutiny behind Legacy Victims, which they believe crucial to their hopes for justice for their murdered loved ones; now
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Ancient Order of Hibernians formally reiterates our continuing commitment to these families of Legacy Victims in their long fight for truth and justice and will continue to monitor their plight, promote an American awareness and take appropriate actions to support their fight for truth and justice.
Signed and witnessed this Fourteenth Day of July in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Eighteen, the two hundred and forty-second year since the founding of the American republic, and the one hundred and second since the Proclamation of the Irish republic.
