AOH America 250 Commemorative Jersey Honors Irish-American Legacy

June 3, 2026 By Sean Pender

In honor of the 250th Anniversary of the founding of The United States of America and to celebrate the Irish-American contribution to its growth and enduring success, we have designed this commemorative jersey for our community and beyond

The jersey is lightly infused with the sacred words of the Declaration of Independence and honors 12 prominent Irish-American leaders across industry, science, academy, and political/military leadership. Yes, it was exceedingly difficult to narrow it down to 12!

Featured Honorees Include:

  1. Charles Carrol: Signer of the US Declaration of Independence and only Catholic.
  2. Commodore John Barry: An AOH favorite and considered Father of the American Navy.
  3. Dr. John Murphy: Cardiothoracic Surgeon and co-founder of the Mayo Clinic
  4. General William Donavan: US Medal of Honor recipient, lawyer, and diplomat.
  5. President John F. Kennedy. 35th President of the United States. First Catholic US President.
  6. John Boyle O’Reilly: Fenian, poet and journalist.
  7. Kate Mullany: Labor Leader and founder of the Laundry Union.
  8. Kathleen McNulty: Computer Scientist
  9. Nellie Bly: Investigative Journalist.
  10. Terence Powderly: Labor Leader and lawyer.
  11. Thomas Francis Meagher: Fenian and founder of the US Civil War’s “Irish Brigade”.
  12. Tip O’Neill: The longest-serving Irish Catholic Speaker in U.S. history.

A portion of every jersey sold will support the AOH History Essay Fund, helping encourage the next generation to learn and share the story of the Irish in America.
